Abeille Airdrie Midwives: Access, support, & community

Our Philosophy

Abeille Airdrie Midwives is a rural midwifery clinic dedicated to clients who might otherwise lack access to midwifery care. Our team provides maternity care and birth choices to a growing demographic of young families who reside in Airdrie, Carstairs, Crossfield, Didsbury, and Olds.

Abeille Airdrie operates out of the  Bump, Birth & Beyond Health Centre on Main Street in Airdrie. Bump, Birth & Beyond is located at

#110- 400 Main Street NE, Airdrie, Alberta.

Our Midwives at Abeille Airdrie are invested in supporting rural clients and building community. Evidence suggests new parents have a higher risk of experiencing feelings of isolation and low mood following the birth of their child, especially during their first postpartum year. Research has demonstrated, time and time again, how new parents with strong community ties can be protective, and reduce the feelings of isolation and depression during this transitional period of their lives. In order to promote community ties and encourage a supportive postpartum year.

Jenny Limoges co-facilitates a monthly community group called Tea-Time with Tiny Ones. Every month new parents connect and create new relationships/friendships in the community, and attendees report feeling a sense of belonging.

Midwives are experts in low-risk prenatal, labour, birth, and postpartum care.

Midwives are primary care providers to clients who are low-risk in pregnancy. Services are covered by Alberta Health Services.

We support in-hospital and out-of-hospital births and care for people following the same regulations and guidelines established for all maternity care providers (low-risk family doctors and obstetricians) in Alberta & Canada.

You  do not need a referral for services.

In the early 1990s, Shannon had the honor of standing at the heart of Calgary’s grassroots movement that would blossom into Birth Unlimited. At its core was a vision: to champion publicly funded midwifery care and ensure that every family in Alberta, regardless of circumstance, could access compassionate, skilled midwifery care.

Jenny's practice of midwifery integrates discussions about how our body’s physiology, our intuition, and evidence-based maternity care influences pregnancy, labour and birth. She hopes to encourage confidence in her clients (and partners), about the body’s ability to build, birth, and nurture a baby as they navigate pregnancy and childbirth.

Inclusion, bodily autonomy, evidence-based care, informed choice, and consent are at the forefront of Bailey's approach to midwifery. She also recognizes the privilege that encompasses an invitation into a birth space, and she feels profound gratitude to be able to develop collaborative and trusting relationships throughout each individual parenting journey.

Her goal is for clients to be informed, respected in their choices, and feel well supported. Supporting families during such a transformative time is beyond a privilege.
