"Latch me if you can" is as cheeky of a statement as it can be true of infant feeding - Feeding a new baby can be tricky, especially when you are sleep deprived and (attempting to) recover from a labour and birth experience. This infant feeding course was designed to help prepare a parent with infant feeding either before, or after baby arrives.
Why would you benefit from taking the course before baby arrives?
Imagine you are getting behind the wheel of a fancy car, with a standard transmission (stick-shift, not automatic!), and you've never driven a car before. Infant feeding might feel just as overwhelming, especially when you are feeling tired and sore (after the birth), and the risk of causing damage to the fancy car is high (just like the risk of damaging your nipples is high without a proper latch - ouch). The "Latch me if you can" course will act like your go-kart and you will have a professional and expert driver who will share her knowledge, strategies, and practice the physical/tactical skills you require to feed your baby. Wouldn't it be easier to learn how to drive if you take practice laps in a go-kart?
How might the course help you if you have already had your baby?
If you are contemplating incorporating bottles, soothers, and/or using a breast pump as a part of your feeding routine, then "Latch me if you can" will help to address your infant feeding needs, too. Imagine that you are learning to ride a bicycle, but instead of riding all alone and hurting yourself, you get to climb onto a tandem bicycle with an expert who knows how to ride a bike (and who will help you to not fall down)...
Who is the "expert" that will help you to navigate infant feeding?
The course is designed and led by Registered Nurse and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant Jasmine Buchanan. She has 15 years of experience in infant and maternal health, and yes, she is also worth her weight in gold!
